We got a request from Molly Tobin (thanks Molly!) to explain where our inspiration came for Maudlynne. To answer that, I took a lot of inspiration from the Addams Family, The Munsters, Ellowyne Wilde and Evangeline Ghastly. I always loved the “darker” characters from those amazing shows. They were quirky and just a touch spooky, but still had a sweetness and accessibility that made you love them. So even though Maudlynne tends to lean toward the darker and a bit spooky side, she’s still just an adorable young girl who embraces her eccentricity and revels in it.
I hope that answers your question. Keep the comments coming.
    Best,
    Jason

Thanks for answering! My favorite part about dolls (besides making new clothes for them) is learning about how they were made and where they come from. I’m really excited about Maudlynne, she’s so cute and just the right amount of dark quirkiness.

She is too cute with those big eyes!

I am REALLY excited for this doll. Im a big fan of Evangeline and look forward to adding another doll from “the darker side” to my collection. Any idea when she will be available? Where will she be sold?

    • Hi Derek! Thanks for the kind words. Maudlynne should be available in the Fall. WE are thinking of selling her on the Tonner Doll website and maybe a different retailer as well. Still in the works though. Rest assured she will still be safety tested and Tonner Toys quality!

I love this doll. I was just wondering if you had any early prototypes that we could see how she’s changed?

Do you know when this doll will be available for purchase? I love the uniqueness about her. My daughter loves dolls that are “different” We can’t wait to purchase the entire collection! My daughters birthday is in August, any chance they will be available by then? Job well done on a new and creative idea for girls!

    • Hi Kristin,
We are working away to try to get Maudlynne out for the Holiday season. I wish we could have her ready for your daughter’s birthday but She’ll make a GREAT holiday gift. We’ll keep you posted as to the date of her launch.
      Best regards,
      Jason

I can hear all the homeschooling friends I have screaming in agony at the stereotyping.

i’m excited about her coming out I may have to break down and buy her when she comes out

  9. Hi there,
    Barb,
No offense meant at the homeschooling set. Maudlynne’s personalty isn’t intended to be a stereotype, she’s more of an archtype.
    Kt,
Thanks for the support! We are excited for her too.

    Best regards,
    Jason

Do you do test marketing with real children? I would buy one now for my daughter, and write a review! As a mother of two girls, I read a lot of these reviews before I buy many products. Our house is full of dolls: Ellowyne Wilde, MIM, American Girl, Karito Kids, West Coast Kids, Monster High, etc. The list goes on and on…
